5th International Conference for Carceral Geography

The 5th International Conference for Carceral Geography will take place on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 December 2022, hosted by The University of Melbourne, Australia.

The conference will be a hybrid online/in-person event, with sessions across multiple time zones and locations.

The conference theme is Confinement: Spaces and Practices of care and control.

Call for papers and abstract selections

Our call for papers closed on Friday 5 August. Selection decisions (and allocation of bursaries) will be made by 31 August 2022, and notifications sent to the email address given for correspondence.

Registration

There is no conference registration fee for presenters or delegates. There is a nominal, voluntary registration contribution for colleagues with funding. This will support conference costs and fund in-person attendance bursaries for people without financial support.

Organising committee

The local conference organising committee is led by Dr Claire Loughnan, Dr Diana Johns and Dr Bree Carlton, from the University of Melbourne.
